Do you see the numbers? I see the numbers most every day. When it first started happening, I thought I was going mad. I had questions. What does this mean? How am I doing this? Why am I doing this? Why is this happening? What am I supposed to do with this? After fourteen years of going through this, I have some answers!

What is 11:11 and the Numbers?

So, what the hell am I talking about? I am talking about the 11:11 phenomenon of course. A simple internet search will get you tons of information on this, but I want to cover this on my blog as well because it is so prevalent on the planet, and it has been so significant for me.

All over the world for decades now, people have been seeing certain repeating numbers over and over in their daily lives. It usually starts with seeing 1111 but then progresses to include other repeating sequences such as 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 888, 999, 000, 1010, 1212, 1234, and sometimes even more seemingly ominous numbers like 911. When people begin seeing the numbers, they see them everywhere: clocks, license plates, news articles, videos, signs, billboards, addresses, phone numbers, labels, etc. I am sure many a skeptic will say “oh right…if you look for numbers with repeating patterns enough, you will of course find them,” however, that is not how this phenomenon works. The fascinating thing about this experience is that it always happens when you are NOT trying to make it happen. The moment you try to find the numbers, you mostly always fail. Another skeptic might say, “well your brain just started noticing a pattern so now you always see them. You were always seeing them but didn’t notice the pattern, and now that your brain is trained, you see them.” This is also not what is happening. What is so fascinating is that when you see the numbers, it happens completely out of the blue at random, and you look directly at the numbers without having even thought about looking at that thing containing the number. For example, I might be sitting on my bed watching TV or playing on my computer or reading a book and for no particular reason, I’ll glance at the clock on my nightstand and see that it is currently 3:33 PM. Or I will be writing an email and hit send exactly when I finish it and then notice I sent it at 11:11 PM.

Why is This Happening?

There are a ton of theories out there as to what this means. Some say that your angels and guides are trying to give you a specific message. Some authors write books that explain the message of every number imaginable so that you can translate the messages. Kyle Gray, one of my favorite LGBTQ angel communicators, has one such book located here, as well as several other books and oracle decks of interest. Some people delve into numerology and get into the specific energies of all the numbers and take meaning from that. I’ll save numerology for a future post, but that is one way some have tried to explain it. Some people see the numbers right when they are thinking about or doing something important. As an energy worker, I feel an energetic hit from the Universe every time it happens. It is like the Universe, your Soul, God/Goddess/Source, your spirit guides and angels, or Mother Nature is zapping you with an a-ha moment or an epiphany. Spirit is wanting to get your attention and for you to pay attention. Some people say it is good to monitor your thoughts and feelings when this happens for clues as to what the Universe is trying to tell you, or to say a little prayer or give thanks and gratitude to the Universe for this sign.

While I have sometimes noticed that the numbers appear at a significant moment when the Universe wants me to pay attention to something, even more often I notice it at insignificant times when I am not doing anything in particular. I also mostly only see the repeating number sequences I listed previously such as 1111, 333, 444, etc. and I see ALL the repeating sequences, so I don’t think, for me at least, they pertain to any specific message of each individual number. What my gut, my guides, and anecdotal evidence from my own personal experiences have told me is that the main reason people are seeing the numbers ties into spiritual awakening during the time period we are now in. It is waking up as we transition into the Age of Aquarius and the Age of Enlightenment. I first began seeing the numbers in the summer of 2007 following my spiritual awakening (see here for that full story), and I have seen them ever since. Another number I see all the time is 144 which is directly related to the 144,000 that is spoken of in the Book of Revelation as well as in several other religious traditions. The 144,000 in the bible are often misinterpreted to be “chosen ones” or “descendants of Jacob/Israel” or “saved evangelical Christians” or “Christians in general” if read literally (which nobody should ever do when it comes to most of the bible, but particularly the book of Revelation). You can read more about 144,000 here. As much as my ego would LOVE to say that I am that special for seeing this number all the time, this is not what this is referring to. What the Book of Revelation is saying is that during the transition of the Ages (the time we are in now), the people will begin to spiritually awaken, and the Christ Consciousness will come upon the planet. Everyone will begin to awaken to their own spirituality. You see the numbers when you begin awakening and are ready to see the numbers. This is happening more and more every day and has grown exponentially in the past few years with all the challenges we are facing on planet Earth. Synchronicity and the Flow of the Universe

The 11:11 phenomenon is really just another form of synchronicity that is occurring globally during this time period. What is synchronicity? It is the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection. Other forms of synchronicity can include instances such as “that moment you think about a song, and it comes on the radio” or “when you start thinking about a friend or family member, and they call you out of the blue” or “you are talking with a friend about how much you love giraffes, and a bus drives by with a zoo advertisement with giraffes all over it.” Skeptics will call these things coincidences, but there is no such thing as coincidence. These things happen all the time, but unfortunately a lot of humans are too busy, too unaware of their surroundings, or too spiritually asleep or out of touch with their intuitions to notice them.

Synchronicity is a form of intuition. It is where you are stepping into flow of the Universe and nature. These are signs and symbols that you are on the right path, that you are right where you are supposed to be at that given time. Some people might say that the Universe manifested this moment for you, that it is all divinely guided by God/Goddess/Source. Some might say that it is your Soul, guides, or angels letting you know they are there and that they are giving you signs. Some might say that your intuition just picked up on the energy of the future or other people’s thoughts and that you subconsciously were able to be at the right place at the right time. It makes no difference because all those answers are right. Intuition is a topic I’ll cover a lot more in the future, but I thought it was important to point out now as it is key to the 11:11 phenomenon. The more in flow you are with your life purpose and the more you surrender your ego to be at ONE with the divine and the flow of the Universe and Source, the more these synchronicities happen. As I said, I began seeing the numbers in 2007, but I have ebbed and flowed in and out of awakening, living my life purpose, and surrendering to God rather than ego since then. What I have noticed time and time again is that the more I am in alignment with my purpose, and with God rather than ego, and when I am spiritually awakening faster, I ALWAYS see the numbers way more often. Seeing the numbers is now a useful tool for me to know when I am in alignment now. I make a point to always try and move towards being in alignment as that is when the true magic of Life and the Universe happens. This is the place where all your dreams come true, and you no longer are out searching for what will make you happy. Instead you find happiness inside. You wake up to living a life full of Light and Love and release all the fear. The Universe always brings you what your Soul needs through trust, faith, and surrender.
