If someone had told me anytime before I was age 30 that I would eventually be writing a blog post about the G word for my own spiritual healing blog, I would have told them they were batshit. Well here we are! You never know where life will take you I guess.

Humans have been questioning their existence and the meaning and purpose of their lives for as long as they have been on planet earth. All the big questions such as, Why are we here? Where do we come from? What happens when we die? etc. ultimately lead most humans to search for and question whether or not there is a divine higher power or consciousness that is overseeing it all. It has many names (here is a list of 114 to be exact!). The G word is of course the term God as that is the most commonly used term in the USA where I write to you from, however I also use Source, Goddess, Creator, Heavenly Father, Heavenly Mother, Universe, Love, and Light all interchangeably.

There is much confusion over what exactly God is depending on what religious path or person you speak to, so much so that entire wars have been fought over peoples’ specific views. From my studies of a variety of religious and spiritual paths and philosophies, what other people have been told directly from the other side via intuition, near death experiences, and meditation, as well as through the messages I’ve received from my own spirit guides, angels, and soul, I decided to break it down into an easy equation. Nothing else is needed. In all honesty, humans have made it far more complex than it needs to be. There is one caveat and that is by even trying to describe what God is, one is already losing some of the magnificence and awesome splendor and beauty of the reality of what God is.

GOD = LIGHT = LOVE = ENERGY = LIFE = EVERYTHING = PRESENCE

1. God is LIGHT – Everything in the Universe is made up of light and light particles, from the smallest parts of an atom to the galaxies and stars in the sky – every single particle. For most of us, when we die we go “to the light” and when we are born on earth we come “from the light.” Light is all the truth and all the knowledge and wisdom in the Universe. When receiving a session from an energy healer, energy workers are literally running light from God and transferring that light into your body in order to facilitate healing.
2. God is LOVE – Love is not a feeling, it is what we are at the core of our beings. Love is the glue that holds the Universe together. It is what feeds us spiritually. It is the thing we always want more of and can never get enough of. It brings us warmth and joy and life. When we are away from it, we feel depression, hatred, anger, lust, greed, shame, fear, sadness, guilt, jealousy, and pretty much every other negative emotion you can think of. God doesn’t just love us…God literally IS love so everything that contains love is a spark of God. Love is always both love for ourselves and love for others. It is never one without the other. Finally, God love is always UNCONDITIONAL and free of judgement. When we crossover at the end of our lives, the only judgement there ever is, is the judgement we give ourselves.
3. God is ENERGY – God is energy which makes up all things. Both energy and matter cannot be created or destroyed. They can only change forms. It is a scientific law. This alone should prove that there is life after death as humans are both energy and matter. Energy is also vibration, and as stated above, light and love. The faster a particle vibrates, the more energy it contains, and the more light and love it contains. Thus it is “higher vibrating.” Lower vibrating energy contains less love and light.
4. God is LIFE – Everything on this planet that lives and grows and has a consciousness is a part of God and contains the spark of God inside. Light, love, and energy is what gives us life both here in the physical realm and on every other plane of existence. Mother nature is God as is every other human, animal, and plant here. The earth itself is a living and breathing entity as seen from the other side by those who have crossed over and came back to report what they have seen so yes, even the rocks, soil, air, and water are God. When we as humans desecrate and overuse the planet and its resources, and kill, torture, hurt, and destroy other humans, plants, and animals, we are doing this to God and because God is in everyone, we do it to ourselves. To say “I hate life” or “I hate my life” is to say I hate God.
5. God is EVERYTHING – From the above info, it should also be apparent that God is everything. God is the dark because even the lowest vibrating energy of the Universe still contains some sort of energy. God allows the dark to exist so that it can teach other souls lessons for their own spiritual growth. Nothing is ever condemned to darkness for all eternity. Everyone and everything is already “saved.” There is no separation from God because we ARE God. We are all one with God and God is one with us. God is becoming self-aware and experiencing and learning and growing through ALL of us.
6. God is PRESENCE – Another name for God is “I Am.” The only realm where time exists in the way it does is the physical realm we live in. There really is no time on the other side in the same way. Time is a construct of the physical realm as it is needed to slow down light particles enough to make solid physical matter. God is found in the eternal now and the ever present moment. This is why meditation and focusing on your breath feels so peaceful. You are accessing God. The present moment is the only thing that exists. The past and the future are constructs of the mind and a good many of the problems that we deal with in our lives (particularly mental and emotional problems) occur because we are not present. To be conscious is to be present. Consciousness is presence.

And that right there is the best way I can describe what I know to be true. I think it is also helpful to know what God is NOT. It is not some old man on a throne that we are to bow down and worship forever. That is a false religious construct. God is both male and female so any attempt to say it is one or the other is also false. While God is everything, negative emotions such as fear, wrath, and hate are low vibrating energetic aspects that actually indicate distance from God, darkness, and a lack of Love. While it is impossible to disconnect from God completely, those things take you further away from God, Light, and Love. When religions use terms like “God fearing” or “wrath of God,” they are using terms that are not really compatible with the true nature of what God is.

Some people might say, “but my religion doesn’t believe in this type of God or a God at all?” Or they might say, “but I’m an atheist or agnostic?” Religious and spiritual paths that have multiple deities such as many indigenous religions and Hinduism, are still totally included. Multiple Gods and Goddesses are just fractals of the same one God. Many religions do not even mention a God, such as Buddhism, but Buddhists certainly would acknowledge the importance of being present and of meditation which as stated above is also God. There is no one right religion or spiritual path. They were all created and made available so that people can choose whatever path brings them the most spiritual growth and to bring them closer to God (whether they call It God or not). No one religion is the absolute total truth, but all religions have some value, especially where they teach love. Unfortunately, religions can also cause a lot of harm and damage through false teachings and through the promotion of fear and hate. As for atheists and agnostics, perhaps they are mostly just rejecting the false caricatures of God that religions have perpetuated on this planet? Or perhaps they really detest all the harm religious proselytization and false doctrine and dogma has done to people on earth over time? It really doesn’t matter as they are free to find whatever path makes them happy. They can try to disassociate themselves from God if they want, however it is a fruitless effort when God is what is contained inside them and what they are made up of. That path will cause more suffering, but also probably a lot of spiritual growth which could be an invaluable lesson when they ultimately return to God as we are all destined to do. I would say to someone questioning the existence of God, “Do you know love, light, energy, life, everything, and presence are real things? Then you know God, whether you know it or not.”
