Since I work with energy all day long as my primary healing tool and having an understanding of the basic principles of energy is so fundamental to the work I do, I decided this topic warranted its own blog post.

Energy is all around us.  Every living and non living thing is made of energy, and every element we come into contact with is made of energy.  All energy holds a certain vibration and as the vibrations change, the matter that makes up the form can change.  One of the easiest examples of how vibrations can change matter is to look at water.  When it is in it’s most contracted state (freezing cold!) you have ice.  As more energy is applied to the ice it heats up and expands to form liquid water.  As still more energy is added in the form of heat, the molecules in the water begin to vibrate faster and change form to a gaseous water vapor.  A key science law from school that I remember is that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed; they can only change forms.  It is funny because so many individuals doubt the existence of Reiki energy and energy work or even the existence of spiritual energy in general.  If you look at this simple principle of matter how can you not know there is life after death?  What do people think happens to the energy that makes up the life force of a living being?  It certainly cannot be destroyed based on that principle so the only logical conclusion (actually as stipulated by that rule) is that it changes forms (AKA we live on in some form even after our bodies go back to the earth).

So many people refuse to believe that energies that are unseen exist.  Try sitting through a hurricane and it would be hard to deny that air (which is seemingly invisible) has no energy.  The same can be said for spiritual energies.  Anyone that has witnessed the energy of a loved one crossing over out of the physical body in death can tell you that the energy that made up the person was released and went somewhere (and some people continue to experience the energies as ghosts).  How many times have you met someone and felt an instant attraction or chemistry?  Or walked into a room and instantly felt the mood of what was happening?  This is also unseen energy at work.  All that energy that every individual emanates (both seen and unseen) can affect any mood or situation.  The more expanded the energy of an individual is, the faster their energy vibrates, the more sensitive the individual is to the energies, and the more they can pick up on the energies (both seen and unseen).

So what is Reiki, and what are Reiki practitioners and energy workers doing then?  The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words Rei (Ray) and Ki (Key). Rei means God, Universe, Divine, Higher Power. Ki (or chi in other cultures) means life force energy. Put them together and you get, Universal Energy. Another name often used for peeps in my field is Light worker, and that is because this energy channeled could also be termed the Light of Source (God). Check out this previous post for more info on that. There are other modalities of energy work besides Reiki, and I incorporate some additional work in my healing arts practice. Energy workers are harnessing the energetic forces that shape our universe to help expand our energies and unblock our human energy systems which helps us to be lighter and vibrating faster just like that water vapor I mentioned earlier.  This allows for better flow of energy into and out of a person’s natural energy system.  When the energies are not flowing properly, are blocked, or the person has contracted and closed off their energy, the body begins to operate out of ease or in a state of dis-ease (disease…see where that word comes from?).  Getting the energies to flow properly again as our natural state of being would dictate, allows for us to be in ease, thus eliminating the dis-ease from our energy systems. The beauty of energy work is that it is a holistic medicine so it can heal and work on all levels of the human body (physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual). Seeing an energy worker is like seeing a medical doctor, a mental health counselor or psychologist, and a spiritual healer all in one which is pretty awesome and efficient if you ask me, but I’m obviously biased. And because the energies are coming from Universal Source energy, it takes the ego of the healer out of the healing work (as long as they are aware of their ego and not pushing their ego on their client). Another amazing attribute of energy work is that the session can take whatever form the client wants. Do they want to speak and chat? Great! Do they want a silent meditative massage like state. Awesome! The client does not even need to be in the same room or even on the phone or internet with the practitioner as the practitioner can work remotely without a need for the client to be connected in that way if that is what the client prefers. There is no time and space on the other side so the energies still work and heal just the same. I know this sounds pretty out there, but I have experienced feeling the healing energies first hand probably a hundred times now when someone has worked on me from a distance. It is the weirdest thing, but it is real.

How do we feel and get access to these energies?  There are several ways.   First of all, you can get attuned to the energies by taking a Reiki class.  I can do this if you are at all interested – (https://tonytherainbowhealer.com/classes/). The attunement opens you up, and you literally can start feeling the energy flowing through your body.  Second, you can see an energy worker for personal sessions.  The more sessions you have, the more you will expand your energy and start feeling the energies yourself.  Third (this is what I did although I also used the other methods to enhance my abilities even more), you can have a spiritual awakening – easier said than done and believe me not the most fun way to open yourself up!  Another way to really start feeling energy is to incorporate yoga and mediation into your routine.  Yoga opens up your chakra system, and meditation connects you to that Universal Source energy.  You are more able to sense in on the energies of the Universe and in yourself when you quiet and still the mind which gets in the way normally.  I felt the energies flowing through me the more I did yoga, and I did yoga long before I ever took any Reiki class.  For me it feels almost like a cell phone vibrating through my whole body.  I flow so much energy now that it is pretty much non stop for me all day every day – even when I am sleeping.  Really you just have to set an intention that you want to feel and use these energies that you have in you. ALL humans have these abilities and if you ask and intend without fear, you shall receive from the Universe. For anyone that wants to become more intuitive, I highly suggest they try one of the options just mentioned as enhanced intuition is also another perk of becoming attuned to energy work.  It will change your life, and once you open up and awaken your mind, body, and soul to the world of energy, you won’t want to go back to sleep walking through life in a world completely unaware, dazed, and confused.
